Storytelling and story-making, powerful teaching tools – how to tell and create stories with your students

Storytelling is a multifaceted tool that not only facilitates language acquisition but also contributes to the overall development of your learners by engaging their minds, sparking creativity, and creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment.

Stories help boost motivation and self confidence in our students, and they are invaluable aspects of learning.

Incorporating storytelling and story–making into your lessons can enrich learning experiences and make lessons more engaging.

Overall objectives of the mobility:
  • To demonstrate and present to the participants how stories can facilitate learning and demonstrate the ways of creating stories with students and how to incorporate it in teaching and in lessons.

Syllabus of the Education by Days:
  • Day 1
    Introduction to the course, the school, and the trainer, and participant introductions
    Icebreaker activities;
    Teambuilding exercises
    Presentations of the participants’ schools.
    Story sharing
  • Day 2
    Introduction to storytelling
    Why is storytelling such a powerful tool?
    The difference between story reading and storytelling
    Demonstration of one engaging story
    What are the main „ingredients“ of engaging and capturing storytelling
    Story structure, what makes the “bones” of a successful story (Plot, character, conflict, theme)
    Techniques: how to use voice, expression, gestures, visuals
    Storytelling games to inspire creativity and quickly generate stories;
  • Day 3
    Explore story types (fables, legends, personal stories).
    Adapting existing stories and modifying them for classroom
    Group activity: Collaborate on generating story ideas for different lessons
  • Day 4
    Why is story making important in teaching
    Creating original stories
    Language production, vocabulary expansion and grammar practice activities; building vocabulary,
    Critical thinking and story – making; engaging imagination when creating stories
    Practical story making activities to be used in classroom – demonstration and practice
    Day 5
    Practical session on story-making and storytelling: sharing stories in the group
    Course evaluation: round-up of acquired competencies, feedback, and discussion
