THE NATURE OF COMING HOME
Find your green, find yourself.
A 5-Day Slow Retreat in Međimurje, Croatia.
Have you ever felt like life is moving faster than you can keep up with, like you’re always giving, producing, replying, but rarely just… being?
Most of us spend our days surrounded by screens, deadlines, and other people’s needs, with very little room left to hear our own thoughts, let alone rest in them.
The Nature of Coming Home is a slow, green retreat for anyone who feels the pull to step back, to breathe, to slow down, and to reconnect with the parts of themselves that everyday life tends to crowd out.
In nature, everything slows to its own pace
Between the thermal springs, the vineyard hills, and a small town, the week is built around one simple idea: nothing here needs to be rushed.
Mornings open gently. Meals are shared, not eaten in passing. Walks have no destination other than the walking itself.
This is a space to:
- – Rest without a strict agenda.
- – Reconnect with your own rhythm.
- – Create with your hands (cooking, blending, painting).
- – Share honestly with a small circle of people.
- – Leave with something real, a ritual, a letter, a habit, not just a memory.
Through simple, grounded practices (yoga nidra, foraging and community cooking, a barefoot tea ritual, art and music, and a closing gratitude circle), participants return to their own pace, without ever being told to “relax.”
Two halves, one journey
The first half of the week unfolds in Gornje Međimurje, at a private countryside house surrounded by vineyards and quiet roads, with evenings at the thermal springs of Sveti Martin na Muri. The second half moves to Čakovec and Donje Međimurje, where nature gives way to creativity, community, and a gentle return to everyday life, closing with a shared circle, a certificate, and an evening spent watching birds along the Drava river, part of the “Amazon of Europe” biosphere reserve.
The intention of this retreat
To give people permission to stop, even briefly, and to leave with practical, simple habits they can actually keep: a five-minute ritual, a way of eating, a way of listening to others, a way of coming home to themselves.
This retreat supports rest as much as reflection, and makes space for what usually gets lost in a full, busy life.
What You’ll Take Home:
- A short daily ritual you can actually keep, not a 45-minute routine you’ll abandon in a week.
- A hand-blended tea of your own, and the habit of slowing down for it.
- A letter from yourself.
- A clearer sense of what you want to keep, change, or nurture more in daily life.
- Real connections with a small group of people who showed up for the same reason you did.
Tentative Schedule:
- Day 1 – Monday: Arrival in Gornje Međimurje
Transfer from Zagreb, check-in at the thermal springs, and your first afternoon slowing down, lunch at Sukha House, then a Yoga Nidra session in nature, followed by a quiet dinner back at the hotel.
- Day 2 – Tuesday: Harvest & Connect
Breakfast, then off to a local family farm to pick your own vegetables. Hands in the soil, no rush. Back at Sukha House, the group cooks lunch together from what was picked. A free afternoon at the thermal springs, then dinner by the Mura river as the sun goes down. - Day 3 – Wednesday: Walk & Ritual
A morning walk through the countryside to Sukha House, followed by a simple beauty rituals ( dry brushing and a facial massage), the kind of self-care to take home. After lunch, a playful musical time machine trip through the decades, then a wine tasting on Mađerka Hill as evening falls. - Day 4 – Thursday: Into town
Check out of the thermal springs, transfer into Čakovec, and a walk into its old town. Barefoot on the grass, you blend your own herbal tea, a small ritual to take home. An afternoon free-style portrait art workshop, then an evening free to explore, closing with dinner in the old town. - Day 5 – Friday: Full circle
A morning yoga session to start the day slowly. Then the heart of the week: a letter to your future self, a circle of gratitude with the group, and your certificate. After a relaxed afternoon, the week closes somewhere unexpected: an evening watching birds along the Drava river, part of the “Amazon of Europe” biosphere reserve. - Day 6 – Saturday
A slow breakfast, then the transfer back to Zagreb, carrying a little more quiet with you than when you arrived.
